The Saline Community Fair board would typically be getting ready for their big week of the year, but even though the 2020 fair was canceled due to COVID-19, a 2020-21 Saline Community Fair Ambassador was still selected and will represent and assist the fair in various ways during the coming year. The new ambassador is Hailey Malinczak from Saline. Hailey completed an application, resume and interview prior to her selection.
Hailey is a junior at Saline High School and is the daughter of Tim and Veronica Malinczak. She has been involved in the fair for most of her life, entering exhibits and participating in fair activities, as well as volunteering at the fair. Hailey is a member of the Saline Junior Livestock Association and has exhibited lambs for the past nine years and raised hogs this year. In the past she has won the Saline’s Got Talent contest, sang the national anthem at grandstand events and was also crowned the 2017 Junior Homemaker. Hailey is involved in many community service activities through the Saline High School Key Club, Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), the High Five Club, the Saline 4-H Farmers, St. James UCC, Camp Washington, Samaritan’s purse and volunteering at the NU2U Resale Shop, which supports Saline Special Education. She has taken on leadership roles for several years in many organizations, including the Saline Lamb Club, the Saline Pig Club, the Saline High School High Five Club, Student Council and will be the 2020-21 Class President. As an ambassador Hailey would like to help plan more events to bring in people from not only the Saline community, but other communities as well. She also looks forward to bringing in new ideas for activities that would attract different age groups. During the 2021 fair Hailey will also receive a $200 scholarship donated by the Former Miss Saline Association. The fair board welcomes Hailey and her input on the fair, and assistance with various community activities which hopefully will resume soon.
The Saline Community Fair Board of Directors congratulates all the youth in the Saline Junior Livestock Association who have continued to work with their livestock throughout the year. Many of the 42 members will be participating in the Saline Junior Livestock Online Auction being held through Sheridan Auctions. The auction begins September 2nd at noon and ends on September 3rd at 7 pm. If you would like to support our Saline Fair youth please go to https://www.sheridanauctionservice.com/account/create to create an account (if you don’t already have an established account with Sheridan Auction Service). The auction will be live for viewing on August 31st and the young people will be pictured with their animal in alphabetical order by species. Complete details are available at www.salinefair.org.
We are sad to not be hosting the fair this year, but the Saline Community Fair will return in September 2021 with renewed energy and enthusiasm for our 85th Fair. Plan to join us September 1-5, 2021 for our family friendly and fun event. Please follow our Saline Community Fair Facebook page and website at www.salinefair.org for information. See you BAAAACK at the Saline Community Fair in 2021.
