Bevery Merz, Devoted Wife and Mother, Worked for Dexter Village Pharmacy and Farmer Grant's

Beverly Fern Merz, age 83, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at her home in Ann Arbor. She was born on July 29, 1936 in Osseo, MI, the daughter of Harvey Ernest and Bertha Fern (Pittman) Blakeman.

On June 1st, 1957, she married Gerald R. Merz and he survives. Recently celebrating her 63rd wedding anniversary, Bev was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and delighted in spending time with her family. She worked for several years at Farmer Grant’s in Ann Arbor and at the Dexter Village Pharmacy. She was an active member at Bethel United Church of Christ in Freedom Township, and formerly part of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau Group and Extension. 

Additional family celebrating her life include their daughter Julie (Dan) Schaible, sons Steven (Gail) Merz, John (Monica) Merz, Christopher (Kristin) Merz, her brother and sister-in-law Darrell and Nila Blakeman, sister-in-law Kay Blakeman, grandchildren Karl (Lesley) Schaible, Jonathan (Jennifer) Schaible, Kelly (Jason) Schaible, Daniel (Sara Beth) Merz, Laura (Ian) Merz, Steven (Brittni) Merz, Michael Merz, Amanda Merz, Andrew Merz, Marisa Merz and nine great-grandchildren. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dale Blakeman and sister-in-law Evelyn Blakeman.

Private graveside services have been held and burial took place in the Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Beverly’s name may be made to Bethel United Church of Christ or to Arbor Hospice.
