Faurecia informed workers of temporary layoffs at the Saline plant Thursday morning.
Employees producing parts for Ford and FCA products are affected by the layoff. Employees producing parts for Tesla will continue reporting to work at this time. Other employees may also be affected and contacted by the company.
Ford production is expected to resume March 30 and FCA production on April 1.
Laid-off employees may be eligible for benefits:
UUAW Local 892 had been pressuring Faurecia to close and sanitize the plant to protect workers from coronavirus. Some workers had reportedly been considering a wildcat strike.
Moderate or heavy snow showers, with a high of 26 and low of 15 degrees. Overcast in the morning, light freezing rain in the afternoon, light snow during the evening, clear overnight.
I have to commend the Saline City manager and engineer for keeping their cool and for their professionalism during the three hour Mill Pond Dam town hall meeting.
I think what's insulting is that the city is bloating the numbers to bolster their case.
Logically, the dam has no practical use. Of course, it's going to cost more. Of course, there's a level of risk there. Of course, over some period of time, it's going to cost more to maintain than a stream.
Life cycle cost analysis is certainly appropriate when considering new assets, but it may not be as appropriate when evaluating existing assets.
