Donald Carter, Employee of Detroit Edison, Raised 3 Children With His Wife of 60 Years

Donald Carter 91, of Northfield Township passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Donald was born on December 9, 1928 to George and Jessa (Allen) Carter in Douglas, Nebraska.

Donald married his loving wife, Suzanne, on February 23, 1952. Donald and Suzanne celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February 2012. They raised three children and shared the gift of their love and commitment to one another until Suzanne’s passing in November 2012.

Donald worked for Detroit Edison Company and retired in 1989. He was a Mason and member of the Zal Gaz Grotto No. 34. Donald and Suzanne spent their retirement years with family and friends, traveling the countryside and doing some serious dauber work at BINGO halls throughout the Ann Arbor area.

Donald was a devoted husband to his wife, Suzanne, devoted father to their children: Dennis Carter of MI, Robert Carter with wife Sharon of WA, and Carol Crotty with husband Toby of MI, and devoted grandfather to Christopher, Catherine, Mark, Joshua with wife Kara, and Jessa. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Leola (Dale) Dughman, Vere (Joe) Bodle, Beulah (Arthur) Eisenhauer, Lawrence (Muriel) Carter, Jean (Leonard) Goetz, Opal (Lawrence) Sweet, Velda (Joy) Scott and Ramon Carter.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Brecon Village and Arbor Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Arbor Hospice.
