She said picking Pennsylvania came easy.

"When I got on campus, I really got that feeling that you're supposed to feel. I just felt like I could really make this my home," Skelly said.

Skelly described herself as an attacking player who uses fast hands and poise rather than the "big ball" game.

Skelly thanked her club coaches and Saline coaches Erica Reilly and Eric Boyer for helping her progress on the field. She also thanked her parents and sister for their support.

Skelly is excited to have the opportunity to play field hockey at the college.

"I didn't want my career to end after high school. I'm really sad to see Saline field hockey go," Skelly said. "I'm just excited to step into a bigger set of shoes and keeping moving on with my career."

Skelly has not decided what she'll study.

Beyond being a great player on the field, Skelly has also been lauded for her work in the school community.

Skelly was also one of three players in the state to be honored with the Roxy Block Sportsmanship Award. Skelly is president of the National Honor Society and has organized blood drives. She's also member of the Washtenaw Youth Initiative, which has held events in favor of gun legislation and gender equality. She co-wrote a grant proposal that resulted in a $28,000 to fund The Bridge, a place where students can feel safe working together at the school.
