Bond-themed Casino Night Coming to Tri-County Sportsmen's League on Feb. 22

British secret agent James Bond never defended the practice of gambling, author Ian Fleming wrote in his 1953 novel Casino Royale. “He simply maintained that the more effort and ingenuity you put into gambling, the more you took out.”

Bond’s intensity stands to reason since he gambled with super villains in haunts like Monte Carlo, he wagered small fortunes on the roll of the dice and a bad poker hand could be prelude to an assassination attempt.

For those without a license to kill, it’s possible to enjoy the same games Bond excelled at – roulette, blackjack, Texas Hold ‘em, craps and baccarat – in a far friendlier, less risky environment: The Tri-County Sportmen’s League, 8640 Moon Rd, Saline.  That’s the site of the second annual Casino Night fundraiser hosted by The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic.  This year’s James Bond-themed event is February 22 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.

Betting is with fun money and professional dealers will teach the games to novice players.  There will also be complimentary snacks and hors d’oeuvres, Bond-themed trivia, a silent auction, a cash bar and performances by The Fiddlers throughout the night.

Admission tickets are $25 in advance at Eventbrite.com ($30 at the door). Discounted fun money packages are also available on line. All profits help support the non-profit Saline Fiddlers and their mission to keep music education and live string music, including Celtic bluegrass and Western swing, a vibrant part of our community.
