Allan Warren Houghton of Saline, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 23, 2020.
The cause of death was Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Allan was born on December 29, 1937 to Warren W. and Velva Jean (Routh) Houghton in Detroit. In 1960 he married Mary (Bakita) Houghton, and together they had three children. Sadly, Mary passed away in 1986. In 1987 Allan married Barbara (Pearson) Houghton and she survives. They were married for over 32 wonderful years.
Allan is also survived by his three children: Eric (Lynnette) Houghton, Lisa (Bob) Sparrow, and Douglas Houghton, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother and sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews and many long-time friends. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary, and his brother Donald Houghton.
Allan was a member of the Michigan State Police, retiring as a Detective Sergeant in 1985. He subsequently worked as a private investigator until he closed Houghton Investigative Services in 2012. He loved going to his farm in South Dakota each fall with many good friends joining him for pheasant hunting season.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, MI with Rev. Norman Dufrin officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service in the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Hills, MI and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
