Judith Miles, 77, of Saline, MI, passed away on August 23, 2019. Judy was born October 19, 1941, the second oldest of 6, born and raised in Syracuse, New York.
She met John Miles, her husband of 51 years, while working for Niagara Mohawk in Syracuse. He persistently asked her out; eventually she ran out of excuses and agreed to a date. They married in 1968, and ran off to South Dakota, then Chicago before landing in Michigan, where they raised their family.
Judy had a successful career at Nissan North America, serving in a variety of roles in her 32 years. At her retirement party, she took pride in being U.S. employee #001. Judy loved her family and friends, and she adored her 4 grandchildren. She always opened her home to people. She was especially welcoming to Japanese families relocating to Ann Arbor, eating sushi way before it was cool.
She and her husband retired to their cottage on Mullett Lake in Indian River, Michigan, where she and John had many close friends. She entertained effortlessly, throwing fabulous parties both planned and impromptu. When word got out she was making meatloaf Up North, they came in droves, and somehow there was always enough food.
Judy is survived by her husband, John; daughters Suzanne Klein (Matt) & Katherine Miles; her four grandchildren, Madison, Davis, Carson & Caroline and her siblings, Barbara (Dave) Rose, Kathy (Mike) Azzolino, Mary (Jack) Savage, William Taylor & Helen Wilson. She was preceded in death by Raymond & Veronica Taylor. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as kind, caring, loving, smart, witty, fun, thoughtful and unselfish.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Development Office, 1820 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207. To leave a memory or to sign Judy's guestbook, please visit www.rbfhsaline.com.
