Saline Township Declines to Participate in River Raisin Watershed Council, Andelina Farms Development Progresses

The Saline Township Board approved routine business at its meeting on Monday at the Saline Township Hall. This included approving the final payment of $24,853.73 to the Washtenaw County Road Commission to support road maintenance and a quarterly payment of $32,323.96 to the Saline Fire Department.

Without discussion, the board declined to participate with the River Raisin Watershed Council. The Watershed Council’s mission “is to inspire behaviors that promote stewardship, improve water quality, and encourage public participation to protect, preserve and enhance the River Raisin Watershed”.

In other action, the board approved the 2019 Poverty Exemption Guidelines which are used in determining the income levels and levying property taxes based upon those income levels and a contract with Chelsea Lumber to replace all windows in the township hall.

Township Supervisor Jim Marion reported the repairs to the Macon Road Bridge are completed and Macon Road is now open to all traffic.

The board indicated it will meet in February to review its 2019 budget which will be presented for a vote at the March meeting.

The Saline Township Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 7 p.m. to consider the updated site plan on the Andelina Farms development.

It was reported by Dan Cabbage, development consultant to the Township, that progress is being made on Andelina Farms, including the developer submitting permits for consideration by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Michigan Department of Environment Quality (MDEQ).

In addition, the developer for Andelina Farms submitted documents requested at the Board’s December meeting, including neighborhood association by-laws and traffic impact studies. Additional information is still being developed about the Andelina Farms’ onsite water and sewer systems.
