It’s time once again to recognize Saline’s outstanding citizens at the Saline Salutes Awards hosted by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce. Nominations are being accepted now through February 15, 2019. Each year, the Saline Chamber seeks nominations for individuals with an outstanding record of achievement in service to the local community. The awards being given are; “Citizen of the Year Award”, “Orrin Parsons Distinguished Veteran Award”, “Hometown Hero – Active Duty Award”, and “First Responder Award”. From the nominations submitted by the general public, honorees will be decided upon by a special blue-ribbon panel of civic and business leaders. A special “Youth of the Year Award” will also be presented by the Saline Youth Council.
The “Citizen of the Year Award” recognizes an individual who has contributed a significant amount of time to one or more worthy causes in 2018. The “Orrin Parsons Distinguished Veteran Award” seeks a recipient who has demonstrated exceptional valor and courage, with an honorable discharge or was killed in action. The “Hometown Hero - Active Duty Award” seeks a recipient who has shown exceptional valor and courage in the United States Armed Services during 2018. The “First Responder Award”, seeks a Fire, Police or EMS recipient who has worked in the Saline Area during 2018 and provided a significant service above and beyond their job description.
Nomination forms are available as PDF download or can be submitted online through the Saline Chamber website (www.salinechamber.org). “It’s an easy way to let an outstanding citizen know their work is appreciated,” say staff members at the Saline Chamber.
Nominations are due by Friday, February 15th at 5pm. The public is also invited and encouraged to attend the Saline Salutes Awards Ceremonies, hosted by the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, on Friday, March 15th at 5:30pm at Evangelical Homes, 440 Russel St, Saline, MI 48176. Included in this memorable evening is entertainment, a strolling buffet and a short awards program. Reservations for the event are available. More information can be obtained on the Chamber’s website at www.salinechamber.org or by calling the Saline Chamber office at 734.429.4494.

It’s so disappointing when a non-partisan election receives partisan support for a candidate(s). It hasn’t always been this way. I remember the day when no one knew or cared what political party a school board candidate was associated with. Those were the days!
Both Mark and foreman have never showed their faces at a township meeting in support of their residents. Other communities leaders have.
The Saline Post’s account of the mayor’s coffee hour leaves out important context, and I want to set the record straight.
I was at this event. I have audio of it. You did not ask that direct question. You accused her of saying that she would not attend the meetings. She corrected you in saying that is not at all what she said. You argued back with her that she stated the people had to come to her. That is also not what she said.
It’s not ok to allowed open AI and Oracle and DTE to sponsor the fair also. Boycott
From 7th in the State of Michigan to 17th in ten years. Seems like our School Board and Administration forgot about their core mission of providing a quality education in the past 10 years.
