Mary MacDonald Served in the Navy in World War II, Was a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star

Mary Grace MacDonald, age 95, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Mary was born in Clyde, Ohio, on October 16, 1922 the daughter of Walter J. and Grace G. (Jones) Gilbert.

On October 12, 1947 in Ohio, she married Billie Keith “BK” MacDonald and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2016.  Mary served in the United States Navy as a Commissary Cashier during World War II. Later in life she worked at First Savings Association in Saline as a Teller for over 11 years.

Mary loved to garden and had a deep love for nature. She was a talented artist and was the best at painting fine china. Mary was also a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #311. B.K. and Mary also enjoyed camping in their motor home and enjoyed the company of their Masonic camping club.

Survivors include their three children, Robert (Diane), Dennis (Ronda), Susan (Joseph) Keister, and grandchildren Bradley, Charlie, and Kylie. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by five siblings and her granddaughter Robin.

Funeral Services and Order of the Eastern Star Services will take place on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline with Helen Lauterwasser officiating. Military Honors will be provided under the auspices of the Washtenaw County Veterans Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the service and burial will take place at Elkland Twp. Cemetery in Cass City, MI, in the future. Memorial contributions may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star – Saline #311. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where friends may begin calling on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.
