Oktoberfest Opens Friday Evening in Downtown Saline

Saline Oktoberfest, a celebration of the beginning of autumn and the city's sister-city relationship with Lindenberg, Germany, begins Friday evening in downtown Saline.

The gates open at 5 p.m. 

Festmaster Bruce Westlake will be joined by Mayor Brian Marl and other local officials for the "Tapping of the Golden Keg" at 6:45 p.m.

Your Generation in Concert takes the stage around 8 a.m. and will play the greatest hits of the the last 40 years.

Main Street volunteers will serve a lineup of German and domestic brews including Bud Light, Spaten lager, Franziskaner, Spaten Oktoberfest, Blake's Flannel Mouth, Oskar Blues Pinner IPA and Salt Springs Brewery Oktoberfest.

Students from the South and West Washtenaw Consortium are holding a bake sale to raise funds for their competition teams.
