Celtic band CrossBow to perform Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Head downtown Thursday when all things Celtic kick off with CrossBow performing at the free Saline Summer Music Series in downtown Saline. The event, from 7 to 9 p.m., is co-sponsored by the Saline Celtic Festival and also includes Highland athletics demos and crowd participation, pre-sale festival tickets and more.

CrossBow will also perform at the Celtic Festival’s Pub Night in the Park on Friday at Mill Pond Park, and completes their Celtic trifecta by playing at the all day Saline Celtic Festival on Saturday.

The group’s founders, alumni of Chelsea High School’s Chelsea House Orchestra (CHO) who previously performed with that group at the Saline Celtic Festival, made their first appearance as CrossBow at last year’s event. Co-founding fiddlers, Steve Lesko and Carly Meloche, met in the CHO. Steve and Carly, along with Canton vocalist/guitarist, Clare McMillan, founded CrossBow in a small Grand Valley State University music practice room. Bassist Mark Pierce, percussionist, Ethan Noga, and woodwind player, Adam McMillan and drummer Mike Spencer round out the group.

Thursday, July 12: CrossBow, 7-9 p.m., Summer Music Series, downtown Saline.

Friday, July 13: CrossBow and Brother Crowe at Pub Night in Mill Pond Park that also features Ring of Steel; Limerick Contest; Mr. Pretty Legs competition; and workshops. Admission $5, under 13 free.

Saturday, July 14: Opening ceremonies 11 a.m.

Corktown Popes, Steel City Rovers, Brother Crowe, CrossBow, Finvarra’s Wren, and many more.

Jousting, historical reenactments, Highland dance competitions, Millie the Mill Pond Monster, Wee Folks Island, The Kilted Magician, sheep herding, Highland Athletics, pipe bands, textile arts, merchant village, and a Craft Beer Festival
