Herman Coval Served in the US Army, Sheriff's Posse

Herman James Coval, age 91 of Freedom Township passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 with his family by his side.

Born on March 10, 1927 in Petersburg, Nebraska to the late George and Lena (Zitariuk) Coval. After a whirlwind courtship he married the love of his life, MaryAnn Herrst on October 18, 1958 and she survives.

Herman is survived by his children Jim (Jill Golding) Coval and Jan (Craig) Little; Five Grandchildren, Adam (Stephanie) Little, Emily (Damien) Evans, Ryan Little, Jimmy (Kaitlynn) Coval, Eric Coval and Lydia Rice. Herman was also blessed with four great-grandchildren David and Penny Little and Damien and Tallulah Evans. He is also survived by his brother Victor Coval, sister Eleanor Hodges, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Michael Coval, Leo (Red) Coval, George Coval, Josephine Budlong, Wilma Musolf and Bernita Auito. Herman lived a long, full life.

He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Sheriff Posse on his faithful horse Spike. Herman was a lifelong farmer and builder. He had a love of horses and the outdoors, especially hunting with his friends. He played softball on many different leagues well into his sixties. He loved the Tigers, Michigan State and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. An avid Euchre player he was also a master story and joke teller. Herman was a life-long member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church where he was an usher and member of the Knights of Columbus.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline with Fr. Francis Mossholder as Celebrant. Following a luncheon at the church, burial will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Manchester, MI. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline with a Rosary Service to be held at 6:00 P.M. and also at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, St. Louis Center, or Michigan Ability Partners. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
