The Saline Area Schools district hired a troop of new teachers before the start of the school year.
The Saline Post continues to introduce you to the district's new teachers.
Today we meet Heather Theisen, who is no stranger at all to the community.
Heather Theisen
What you teach: 2nd Grade
Where you teach: Pleasant Ridge Elementary
Hometown: Saline, MI :)
From what university did you graduate? Michigan State University
Describe your previous teaching or career experience: I student taught in a 5th grade classroom in Walled Lake, last year. This is my first year teaching!
Why did you decide on teaching as a profession? Through instructing dance classes, I realized that teaching was something I truly loved and wanted to pursue!
Why did you choose your specific area/subject? I have always had a passion for teaching young students. I felt that by specializing in elementary education, I would be able to make a large impact on the lives of my students at an early age.
Describe a satisfying moment on the job: That "ah-ha" moment when all the stress and hard work comes together, and you see the sense-making happening for your students!
Who was your favorite or most influential teacher? This is tough! I have had so many wonderful, impactful teachers over the years. I would say that every teacher I've had has taught me something that's truly stuck with me.
How do you like to spend your time away from class? Reading, spending time outdoors, teaching fitness classes, and relaxing with family and friends.
What’s your impression of Saline Area Schools since accepting the position? Community is an understatement! I am so blessed and proud to be apart of such an amazing district.
Sunny, with a high of 50 and low of 24 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear during the afternoon and evening,
Nice idea. Thank you to the kids who support this. Seems a bit of diversity in the make-up of the kids leading the group would go a long way to making "everyone" feel welcome. Sadly, not seeing it, at least in what is presented here.
Awful, racist perspective. There is nothing wrong with the "make-up" of these four kids.
Not saying there is anything wrong with those four kids. Really appreciate what they are doing and think it is great. Hardly find it racist to think having folks representative of other "groups" leading the group would go even further to making everyone feel welcome.
As we noticed the rapid deterioration and indentation of the road from all of this truck traffic, which presumably will only get worse as the weather and road surface gets warmer, we have wondered just who is responsible for the cost to repair/replace these roads?
Did anyone ask the nearby residents if they want a party palace in their neighborhood? Traffic, parking, crowds, trash, noise: was any of this considered when making this decision?
The organizers are required to submit an application to the City of Saline for this event. If you wish to provide input, comments can be sent to the City Clerk or made in person at anytime or more specifically when their application appears on the council agenda.
Providing input just like the data center had input given. When a decision is made around here, it has already been made.
