Bonnie Sue Carre, 65, of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 25, 2017 with her family and best friend by her side.
Beloved sister and friend to many, Bonnie was born February 27, 1952 to the late John and Elizabeth (Murphy) Carre. Bonnie is survived by her siblings Linda Carre (Fred) Looft of Leicester, MA; Deborah Adoree of Jackson Springs, NC; Jacqueline Bishop of Ypsilanti; John (Mia) Carre of Pinehurst, NC; many nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends.
Before retiring from Chase Bank, Bonnie spent her entire career in the banking industry working her way from an entry-level position to bank branch manager and Vice President. An active volunteer in the community, she was devoted to Girl Scouting, served as troop leader and was President of the Girl Scouts, Huron Valley Council. In retirement, she enjoyed a second career as the office manager for Inner Space Design where she applied her many creative talents.
She completed coursework in fine arts (photography) at Washtenaw Community College and was founder of the photography business “Worth a Thousand Words.” Bonnie’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially her craft and book club friends. She was the ultimate hostess who loved opening her beautiful home for movie nights or organizing dinners and holiday gatherings. All who knew Bonnie admired her natural and exceptional ability as an interior decorator. She loved travel and sharing those adventures with others.
Some of her fondest memories were of trips though out the U.S., Canada and abroad. She particularly enjoyed Mackinaw Island, Italy, and Great Britain. Most of all, she loved her home. She was a true friend to many who was admired for her generous spirit and great humor.
Her strength and selfless determination while she courageously battled with cancer, were an inspiration to all who knew her. Bonnie will be dearly missed and never forgotten. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Saline. A luncheon will follow the service. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
