Saline Area Players HOLD AUDITIONS for OLIVER! Saturday, August 5

Children going into first grade through adults are invited to audition for SAP's upcoming production of Oliver!

When: Saturday, August 5

Where: Ellen E. Ewing Performing Arts Center/(Saline High School Auditorium), 1300 Campus Parkway, Saline, MI. 

Times: 

10-12 Noon for children going into grades 1st – 8th

1-3 PM for high school kids through adults

Pre-registration begins 30 minutes before the auditions.  Those auditioning will be asked to fill out an audition form and conflict calendar and will have their picture taken before the session begins.  Please be sure to bring a calendar or list of all dates and specific times you will be unavailable for rehearsals between now and the shows!  You can also download an audition form and conflict sheet from the website.

This popular musical, based on Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist set in Victorian England, directed by Rebecca Groeb with musical direction by Robert Cindric, will be performed October 20-22.  Information about auditions, character descriptions, audition format, and song options is available on the website at www.salineareaplayers.org  

For kids going into 1st-8th grades, come prepared to sing 16 measures/one verse of a song from the show or one of your choosing, and do improvisational exercises based on characters and scenarios from the actual script.  An accompanist will be provided but please bring sheet music.  NOTE:  This session will be a closed audition - parents will not be allowed to watch but are welcome to wait in an adjoining room until the session has finished!

For high school kids-adults, be prepared to sing 16 measures/one verse of a song from the show, specific to role desired if preference, OR pick a song of your own choosing, and do cold readings and/or improvisational exercises based on characters and scenarios from the actual script. An accompanist will be provided but please bring sheet music!

Rehearsals will take place on Monday-Thursday nights beginning at 6:30 or 7:00 pm beginning the week of August 14.  A very specific schedule will be created that will indicate what days you will be needed.  You will be expected to attend all designated rehearsals unless you have indicated your unavailability in advance.
