The Saline varsity softball team dropped a doubleheader to Tecumseh Wednesday, 15-10 and 7-6.
In the opener, Tecumseh scored three runs in the first and five runs in the second and third. Tecumseh had 24 hits and Saline, which used a six-run fourth to climb back into the game, had 18.
Emily Baldus started and went 1 2/3 innings giving up eight runs on 10 hits. Alex Pace went 5 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs on 14 hits.
Ashley Heren hit a grand slam home run for the Hornets. Olivia Darmos was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Haley Evans and Kelsey Alexander also went 3-for-4. Brooke Bauer, Heren, Amanda Enners and Emma Schwartzenberger also had two hits.
Tecumseh scored three runs in the first inning of the night camp and then added runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
Down 6-1 after five innings, Saline scored two runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to get within one. Saline had runners at first and third when the final out was made.
Baldus pitched seven innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on 13 hits. She struck out three and walked one. Darmos, Schwartzenberger and Evans each had two hits for Saline. Enners drove in two runs.
