Services for Karen Christiansen, Former School Board Trustee, April 15

Karen Ann (Wanty) Christiansen, born in Ann Arbor MI, in 1941, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, died on April 10, 2017 following a two and a half year battle with cancer.

Karen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Louis, and their four children: Melanie Christiansen of Oak Park, MI, Marci (Mark) Meadows of Grove City, OH, Ted (Laura) Christiansen of Houston, TX, and Holly (Jeff) Bauman of Saline, MI. She is also survived by her sister Vicki (Kevin) Stonebraker and stepfather Duane Rodenberg, both of Belleville, as well as ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Karen enjoyed mentoring and guiding her children and grandchildren to become Godly and productive adults.

Karen was a member of the Saline Church of Christ for thirty eight years and influenced many with the gospel. Karen was a dedicated Bible student and taught many Bible classes and ladies day events. She also participated in the prison ministry program.

Karen graduated from Pioneer High School in 1958, also a graduate of Eastern Michigan University in 1976, Summa Cum Laude. She was employed by the University of Michigan in the Medical School Admissions department and retired in 2001. Karen served on the Saline Area Schools school board for two terms. In her retirement Karen was a hospice grief counselor and marriage counselor.

With God’s help, Karen reclaimed her health in 1989 through the Grey Sheet food plan, attending meetings and supporting others in their journey to a healthier life. She enjoyed playing cards with her senior group, working in her beautiful yard, and making unique afghans for all the important people in her life.

Please join us in a memorial service to remember Karen at the Saline Church of Christ, 7300 E. Michigan Ave. Saline, MI 48176, April 15th at 1:00pm.
