Saline celebrates its sesquicentennial anniversary this weekend with a free fireworks show Saturday evening.
Here’s what you need to know:
WHEN
The gates open at 6 p.m. and fireworks begin at 8:30 p.m.
WHERE
The fireworks will be shot from between the football field and baseball diamond behind Liberty School and Saline Middle School.
The area around the blast site will be fenced off and people will not be watch within the fenced off location. Originally, organizers hoped people might be able to watch from the bleachers, but some of the bigger fireworks forced the widening of the perimeter.
People can watch from grassy areas on the Saline Area Schools campus. People can bring chairs, blankets, snacks and games and enjoy the fall weather. People can tailgate in the parking lot. People are reminded that drugs, alcohol, tobacco and weapons are not permitted on school property.
There will be portable toilets around the school campus.
PARKING
There is free parking at Heritage and Woodland Meadows elementary schools and at Saline Middle School. Enter Heritage and Woodland Meadows from Woodland Drive and Saline Middle School from Maple Road. Handicap parking is available at Liberty School (enter from North Ann Arbor Street).
Thibault Lane will be closed to through traffic.
THE SHOW
People are encouraged to join the fun on campus, but the fireworks are big enough and will be shot high enough that people can view the show from nearby subdivisions.
The show will last 30 minutes.
This sound cruel on the surface. Landlords have rights too, they also have expenses. Does the city inspect these properties like the surrounding cities do ? Once your lease expires ask for a new lease otherwise you are month to month. Either party can give the other party thirty day notice to move out.
This is the unintended consequence of a government becoming more authoritarian and more punitive. Think about it. Would you keep a tennant on your property if they were involved with the city in suing you? Law suits are painful.
Tenants should have been moved out a long time ago. Some apartments don’t have running water or heat. It is my understanding that tenants shave not paid rent for the last year because conditions were so bad.
Sunny, with a high of 57 and low of 31 degrees. Sunny during the morning, cloudy for the afternoon and evening, clear overnight.
I liked much of what Bret Pollington had to say. However, in his earlier interview with Tran he stated that he's firmly opposed to maintaining the Mill Pond Dam, "full stop". So a vote for Bret is a vote against the dam.
Thanks for the post as you have confirmed my thoughts, all candidates are of the liberal persuasion ! Makes me very glad that my choice for my family was York Township and not the city.
