Jerry Schmidtke, Formerly of Saline, Passed Away Oct. 1

Gerald "Jerry" Brian Schmidtke, of McMillan, Mich., passed away after fighting a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, October 1, 2016.

He was born in Detroit, MI, the son of John Paul Schmidtke and Lydia Ann (Krause) Super.

Jerry, formerly of Saline, kept his sense of humor until the very end of his life and will be missed by family and friends. Jerry was a diehard Michigan State fan, loved riding his motorcycle which he got to enjoy this last summer, and loved spending time, and working at, the Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck.

Survivors include his children Stephanie Schmidtke and Matthew Schmidtke. Other survivors include his brothers Jon (Gwynne) and Marty (Nancy) Schmidtke. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
