Position: School Crossing Guard Salary: $10/per hour (per shift)
Job Description: Under general supervision of the Saline Police Department, a school crossing guard is responsible for performing routine pedestrian safety work in the vicinity of a school. A school crossing guard guides school children at designated school crossing intersections, before and after school. Work is considered part-time employment during the Fall and Spring school year.
Job Requirements:

Applicant must be 18 years of age and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalency; formal or informal education or training which insures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Knowledge of City traffic ordinances/regulations.

Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices.

Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.

Ability to establish friendly relations and secure the cooperation of school children.

Ability to remain alert at all times while performing routine duties.

Ability to read and write.

Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, to include standing for prolonged periods of time.
Physical Requirements:

Occasional lifting of 10-15 pounds; visual acuity; speech and hearing

Hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to perform job successfully

Subject to standing, reaching, walking, and twisting to perform essential functions

Working conditions are primarily in an outside environment with exposure to temperature extremes, varying weather conditions, dust, and noise
