Saline Fair Fun Begins with Pet Show, Baseball, Bike Decorating and Parade

The theme of the 2016 Saline Community Fair and the parade is “Proud of the Past, Poised for the Future”, in honor of the City of Saline’s Sesquicentennial. The entering of exhibits will take place on Monday, August 29 from 2-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds at 5055 Ann Arbor Saline Road, Ann Arbor. Stop by local businesses to pick up a copy of the fairbook where you will find a variety of categories in which to enter exhibits.  A digital copy of the fairbook can also be found online. Anyone interested is invited to enter exhibits.

The fair parade will be held in Saline on Tuesday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. beginning at Mill Pond Park and ending at Henne Field.

New this year will be the return of the Boys and Girls Pet Show and the Best Decorated Bicycle Contest which will be held at Mill Pond Park. Youth up to age 16 can participate. Registration is at 5 p.m. and judging will begin at 5:30 p.m. After judging, participants will walk or ride in the parade.  See all rules and categories in the fairbook on page 61. Everyone will receive a ribbon and there are Best of Show awards also. Following the parade the fair will be welcoming back the Chelsea Monitors & Merries with Dexter Union Club for a Vintage Baseball Game at Henne Field. The Saline Sesquicentennial Celebration committee will also be hosting several other fun activities at the baseball game.
