State Finalist for Science Teaching: Leigh Ann Roehm

This post expresses the views and opinions of the author(s) and not necessarily that of The Saline Post management or staff.

Not only is Leigh Ann Roehm a remarkable basketball coach, but on Friday she received word that she was selected as a State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Several of us in Saline Area Schools had the honor of nominating her last summer. She now moves on to the national review which means she is in the top three in the state to be nominated for this honor.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest recognition a kindergarten through 12th-grade science, technology, engineering, or mathematics teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States.

The last time a Saline teacher received this honor was in 1987 when Elizabeth Moore, a Saline Middle and High School Mathematics teacher, won it.
