After a day of recuperation yesterday, the Fiddlers resumed their tour today.
If there was a theme for the day, it water, and lots of it!
Before their performance at the Manistique High School auditorium, the Fiddlers visited Kitch-iti-kipi, or the Big Spring. This is a natural spring with incredibly clear water that generates more than 10,000 gallons a minute from openings in the limestone below. The Fiddlers ventured out to the middle of the lake in a raft to see it with their own eyes.
This touristy outing was not only fun, it provided a great opportunity for a group photo!
Later in the afternoon, it was time to set up for the show in Manistique, which drew an impressive crowd despite the pouring rain.
The Fiddlers put on an awesome performance, and received a standing ovation. A small group debuted the Willie Nelson song "On The Road Again," a slighter larger group performed "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." These were big hits with the audience, as were the rollicking ensemble pieces, and the solos on violin, guitar, bass, cello, and mandolin.
Tomorrow, it's wagons north to Munising, for a mid-day performance.
