The Friends of the Saline District Library Corner Book Shop is open for in-person shopping after 18 months of closure that also included 10 months of online-only sales. Opening hours can be found on the Library’s web site https://www.salinelibrary.org/about/friends/ and on signs at the Library’s entrances.
The Book Shop is following the safety protocols the Library has in place for the whole building. Thus, masks are currently required for all volunteers and customers. In addition to the Library’s measures, due to the shop’s small, enclosed space, the shop is limiting the number of customers to 4 adults or one family at a time. This is for everyone’s safety and comfort sharing the space.
Regular customers will notice that some things have changed a little. A few subjects have moved to new locations; the desk area has been rearranged to allow more distancing for volunteers and customers; the monthly Bag of Books Sale remains on hiatus for the time being.
Donations continue to be on an appointment-only basis. Future donation days and times will be posted in the shop, on the bulletin board just outside the shop, on local social media, including the Friends Facebook page, the Saline Post, and area Next Door networks. Lobby donations cannot be accepted for the foreseeable future, and items left behind there will have to be discarded.
Anyone interested in receiving Corner Book Shop news emails can request to be added to the list by sending a message to salibfriends@gmail.com. News emails come out on average at a rate of once every week or two. This is the most reliable way to hear about donation day details, when something special is being offered in the shop, and, eventually, when the Bag of Books Sales will resume.
The Friends thank the Saline community for its wonderful support and cheer for the opening of the Fine Print Bookshop downtown last week!
