Meet our Special Guest...

Celia van den Bogert started studying the harp before entering the 8th grade at Roxboro Middle School in Cleveland Heights, OH. Following her experiences playing piano and flute, this new adventure would open up a world of new sound possibilities.

Currently based in Ypsilanti, MI, Celia plays in the band MoonGreen (hp/bassoon). Celia’s playing can be heard on recordings of the Creative Arts Orchestra, and Symphony Band large ensembles, both of which call U of M School of Music, Theatre and Dance home. As an improviser, she has collaborated with dancers, directors, and actors. In 2018, she studied for a semester at Utrechts Conservatorium and while there, performed improvisations with members of the Rood Noot and BUI (Bevordering Utrechtse Improvisatie) collectives. Celia has performed with the Adrian Symphony, AEPEX Contemporary Performance, and the Midland Symphony in the areas surrounding Ann Arbor. As a soloist, she has appeared with M.U.S.i.C. (Northeast Ohio) and Ann Arbor Camerata ensembles. She holds a BM in Music Performance from the University of Michigan with supplemental study in mathematics, and is currently an assistant teacher at Ann Arbor Children's House Montessori school.

Her main teachers have included Jody Guinn, Jennifer Ellis, Joan Holland, Erika Waardenburg, Esmée Olthuis, and Mark Kirschenmann. Other interests or activities she pursues in her free time include walking in nature, fractal images, spending time with cats, and listening to David Bowie.
