Dan cites large dollar amounts yet much of the support the rec center needs is due to past neglect/lack of support from the city and continual deferral of routine maintenance.
How many Michigan municipalities with less than 10,000 people can afford to maintain a rec center the city's size?
To name a few:
Flat Rock Michigan 2023 10,239 residents, beautiful fairly newย community center with fabulous aquatic center, gym, and other exercise equipment (population under 10K when built, median income lower than Saline as well as lower house values).
Moderate rain, with a high of 85 and low of 71 degrees. Fog in the morning, cloudy during the afternoon, overcast in the evening, fog overnight.
Would urge the city to NOT privatize the Rec Center or sell it.
Ali. There is a reason you donโt understand. You choose not to.ย Investing in our seniors health and wellbeing is much more important than investing in a recreation center that has continued to lose money and only serves a small portion of our cityโs community.
We are seniors and fully familiar with both facilities. Perhaps what is not understood is the number of seniors who use the Recreation Center, in particular the aquatic center as arthritis for many of us means water is one of the few ways we can exercise. Manyย of course also use other areas of the facility.
EDIT: The Saline American Legion was a sponsor for this event, supplying the food for guests. SASC is grateful for their continued support.
Kudos to The Saline American Legion. They have been a consistent contributor to the SASC. ย Seniors in our community have earned and deserve the benefits that the senior center offers. Great work!
