Founded in 1963, the Ann Arbor Film Festival is the oldest independent and experimental film festival in North America. The week-long event is dedicated to promoting bold, visionary filmmakers through the advancement of film and new media art, and engaging communities with remarkable cinematic experiences. The 64th AAFF will be a hybrid event, with online and in-person options for attendees. Correction regarding the fire special assessment, council is authorizing ~$646,746 or 1 mill as a special assessment towards the city overall fire budget of $1,086,214. The remainder is funded from General fund.
Regarding the budget, it is more than inflation—proposed new positions are being added; facilities manager and economic development director, also a Water/Waste position (funded with utility fees).
