Eight Candidates Vie for Crown in 71st Miss Saline Pageant

The 71st Miss Saline Pageant will be held at the Saline Community Fair at 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 27 at the Wasthtenaw Farm Council Grounds. The eight contestants are all honor roll students at Saline High School.  

Elizabeth Caswell

Elizabeth is a member of the Marching Band, Cross Country, French Club, Link Crew and Drama Club. She lists her hobbies as painting/drawing and babysitting. She plays flute in wind ensemble. Elizabeth will strive for a degree in nursing and serve in the Peace Corps.

 

Christine Cauley

Christine has won many awards as a twirler with the Saline Twirlettes and also plays the cello.  She received the Achievement of Technology Award 2013 and is dual enrolled with Washtenaw Community College. Christine hopes to pursue an engineering degree at Michigan Technological College.

 

Etienne Herrick

Etienne has developed her leadership skills through Key club and was the 2013 recipient of the Leadership Award through student council. She loves spending time in the kitchen, baking. Etienne hopes to study Exercise Science at the University of Michigan.  

 

Alexandra Konwinski

Alexandra is vice president of Saline High School Drama Club and has been cast in four school productions.  She is also a member of NHS and sings with the “Ten Tones” a Capella group.  She enjoys biking and poetry. Alexandra will work towards a degree in Law and hopefully practice International Corporate Law.

 

Jackie Olson

Jackie is in love with lacrosse and cherishes the Woodie Merchant and Defensive Player of the Year awards. She is passionate about Art and is excited to start Advanced Placement Art this year. Jackie’s future ambitions are to become a traveling nurse and spend time in Africa with the Peace Corps.

 

Haley Martis

Haley plays lacrosse and is involved with  the Link Crew, Powderpuff Football and Poetry Out Loud. Her hobbies include knitting, kayaking, antiquing and golf. Haley is a student at Huron Valley Beauty Academy with dreams of working in New York City for a cosmetics company.

 

Jenna Militello

Jenna participates as Link Leader, mentors in Connection Classroom and won her varsity letter in Cross Country.  She has held several leadership positions with NHS and student council. She practices yoga on a daily basis. Jenna’s plan is to study neuroscience and become a neurological pediatrician.

 

Wendy Szuminski

Wendy is a 2nd year participant in the Career Technical Education Welding and Fabrications class. She plays three different instruments and is Drum Major for the marching band. She captains both the bowling team and track and field where she earned her varsity letter. Wendy aspires to teach one day.
