Koerschner, DeKraker lead Fast Hornet Pack at Portage XC
Five Hornets placed within 17 seconds of each other as the Saline boys placed third at the Portage Invite Saturday. Saline finished with 166 points, behind Northville (153) and Rockford (62).
Junior Evan Koerschner was the fastest Hornet, finishing 19th in 16:10 – five seconds quicker than sophomore Anthony DeKraker (25th, 16:15). Senior Bryan Adamovicz set a career mark (16:22) to finsh 36th. Senior John Giles was one second back to take 40th. Junior Connor Meehan was 46th in 16:27. Aidan Carichner wasn’t far back either, finishing 63rd in 16:39.
Saline won the junior varsity race with 23 points – 75 better than second place Travis City Central. Josiah Davis set a career-best with a time of 16:47 to take second. Glen Luckhardt (16:55) and Derek Jordan (16:56) placed third and fourth. Aidan Delfuoco (6th, 16:59) and Neil Garg (8th, 17:06) completed the scoring. Alec Paxton was ninth in 17:07.
In the middle school 2500 race, Saline placed 10th. Jacob Brunty was Saline’s fastest, taking 29th in 8:46. Saline was sixth in the sixth grade 2500 race. Jamie Harrison (14th, 9:43) and Max Pfeiffer (16th, 9:43) led the Hornets. Colton Cundiff was 35th in 10:03.
