Driskell to Demand Restoration of School Funding at Houghton Elementary Press Conference
Gretchen Driskell, the longtime Saline mayor and Democratic candidate for the 52nd district in the Michigan House of Representatives, will hold a press conference at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the now closed Houghton Elementary School in Saline.
Driskell, joined by State Rep. Jeff Irwin (D-Ann Arbor), will demand the restoration of funding to Michigan's public schools, colleges and universities. In 2011, Republicans in Lansing cut public school funding by nearly $1 billion and cut higher education funding by 15 percent to pay for a tax cut for businesses and balance the budget..
Driskell is running against incumbent State Rep. Mark Ouimet, R-Scio Twp..
