White, Antonelli Pace Unbeaten Saline Golf Team
The Saline girls' golf team remains undefeated in SEC conference play after defeating Monroe Wednesday 163-187 at Lake Forest Golf Club.
Emily White was match medalist with a 39 but she was followed closely by senior captain Louisa Antonelli who had a career-best 40.
Freshman Samantha Kellstrom continued her stellar freshman season with a 41 and Stacy Cruze added a 43.
"Louisa really played well today hitting seven of nine greens. Her putter was the only balky club in her bag. She has been threatening to go low and today proved she can do it," said coach Betsy French.
The team is gearing up for a tough next week where they play three tournaments and three matches in eight days. Saline plays in the Grosse Ile Invitational on Saturday to begin the run.
Saline's junior varsity team lost to Monroe 169-155 on the first seven holes of the front nine. Madison Evans was team medalist with a 39, Anna Kauppi had a 42, Rebecca Smith 43 and Sam Clark 45. Evans, Clark and Kauppi had birdies today as the team continues to show tremendous improvement, which is encouraging for the future of the team, French said.
