Dale Fisher Galleries is proud to announce the release of Washtenaw County: Visions of the Eagle, the final edition in Dale Fisher’s collection of heli-photo artistic coffee table style books. Dale, known as ‘the Flying Photographer,’ has been flying via helicopter and capturing beautiful photographs of Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and surrounding Washtenaw County communities. Turning the pages helps you to imagine you are traveling along with an eagle in flight.
Dale has made a career of capturing images from the open door of a helicopter. “Low-level helicopter photography gives a distinctive perspective unmatched by photographs taken from airplanes, drones, or from the ground,” says Dale.
“Dale is one of the legends in the industry,” said Jonathan Knight, Knight Photography. The book is a timestamp in history. The works are new and include many photographs of events and people. Photos were taken as recent as January 2020. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face as you turn the pages and remember.
“At 288 pages, and because of the quality of the photographs, this truly is Dale’s biggest and best book. This is the largest, most challenging and most rewarding project of my career,” says Joanne Ackerman, photographer and graphic designer.
To celebrate, a book release / book signing party is planned for Saturday, August 15, from noon-6pm at the Dale Fisher Galleries located at 1916 Norvell Road, Grass Lake, MI. Books will be available for purchase. Meet Dale and have him sign your book. “Because Dale has been working on this book for more than eight years, it was a very difficult process to choose the photographs for the book. Many of the photos that were not chosen, as well as the photos included in the book will be on display and available for purchase,” says Joanne. Refreshments and outdoor seating under a tent will be provided. Masks are mandatory, reservations are requested, but not required.
(Editor's Note: Copies are also available at Saline City Hall, 100 N. Harris St)
