People in Saline and surrounding communities reported feeling the earth move Friday evening. They weren't wrong.
According to the United States Geological Society's earthquake page, there was a quake off the shore of Detroit Beach, just east of the City of Monroe.
The quake, measured at 6:55 p.m., had a magnitude of 3.2, considered a minor earthquake, and was 9.2 kilometers deep.
"Did anyone just feel their house moving and a loud rumble?" asked Sheila Vish, a Milan resident posting in the Saline Posts Facebook group? "We did in Milan, and someone on another site posted in Monroe."
Several residents immediately replied that they felt it too.
"We felt it during dinner. Thought it was a train, but it wasn't," said Stephen Robison. "Lasted about three seconds."
For some, it was a new experience.
"I thought I felt a rumble," said Christine Hill. "I guess maybe it was my first earthquake."
Tori Dayen said she felt it near Moon and Willis roads.
"We thought we were crazy," Dayen said. "I've never felt an earthquake before. This is so cool!"
Here's how people reacted on Twitter.
Sunny, with a high of 55 and low of 33 degrees. Clear during the morning, sunny in the afternoon, partly cloudy during the evening, clear overnight.
This did not have to happen. In past shutdowns, when we had experienced and knowledgeable people in government positions who actually cared about the American people, advance plans were made to ensure funding for this (and other key programs) was in place before the shutdown.
Is this even over with? No indication of the date or time.
