There's No Saline Summerfest, But There's a Virtual Summerfest 5K for Saline Area Social Service

The 2020 edition of Saline Summerfest has been canceled due to COVID-19 and social distancing measures.

But according to the Saline Summerfest 5K organizers - the run must go on! (REGISTER HERE)

The annual event, now hosted by the Saline Cross Country program and presented by the Ann Arbor Running Company, will be held "virtually" this year. And, instead of benefiting Saline Cross Country, it will benefit Saline Area Social Service, which provides struggling Saline residents with a food pantry and other assistance.

Here's how you can get involved.

  • Register by July 23 to get a t-shirt and bib before race weekend.
  • On the weekend of Aug. 8, run your 5K where ever you can - your neighborhood, a track, a bike trail or a treadmill.
  • Post your results to Twitter, Strava and or Facebook and tag them with #salinesummerfest5K2020

This isn't just a timed race. There are prizes for:

  • The most creative route. Show your route. Maybe spell out SASS or SXC. Or just draw a picture with your route.
  • Furthest from Saline. As measured by Google maps. Post a picture and your route/location on Twitter, Facebook and/or Strava with the #salinesummerfest5K2020 hashtag. Whoever is furthest from the 4 corners wins!
  • Best photo - Post a picture with your race t-shirt or Saline XC gear at the most picturesque part of your run. The winner will be crowned Ms. or Mr. Photogenic and adorn the website for at least a year.

Runners will be asked to observe all local, state and national restrictions.
