Betty Rosen Leacher, principal at Pleasant Ridge School in Saline, is retiring, according to Saline Area Schools officials speaking at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.
Leacher, one of the veteran principals in Saline Area Schools, is in the midst of her first year as principal at Pleasant Ridge. She previously served as principal of Harvest Elementary from 2009 to 2019.
Tim Austin, secretary of the Board of Education, said Leacher has meant a lot to the Saline school community.
"She's touched a lot of kids' lives and had an impact on a lot of parents' lives here too," Austin said.
Superintendent Scot Graden also acknowledged her contributions to the community.
"She's been an absolute warrior for Saline Area Schools and I'm proud to have been able to work with her," Graden said.
Carol Melcher is now the longest-serving principal in the same position. She's been principal at Saline Alternative High School since 2009.
There were three resignations in the human resources report. They are Woodland Meadows paraeducator Laura Frederick, Saline Middle Schools food services assistant Justin Lindstrom and Saline High School afternoon custodian Andre Narvab.
