The Saline Arts & Culture Committee is pleased to announce that 37 artists submitted a total of 88 works for Art Around Saline 2020 and that 6 of the works have been chosen for reproduction to grace downtown buildings beginning some time later this year. The six works are
A jury of four, drawn from Saline’s creative community, used a blind selection process to choose the works. Many thanks to jurors Eze A. Enriquez, Heidi McClelland, Karrie Waarala, and Jorge Guzman De Branoff, representing Saline Area Schools, the Saline Main Street Design Team, the Saline District Library, and the City of Saline Arts & Culture Committee. Design Team member Heidi McClelland commented, “It was great to be a part of this process. So many wonderful artists and entries to choose from made the decisions difficult, but we were happy to be able to showcase these amazing artists! Congratulations to those whose works were chosen, and very well done to everyone who submitted work this year."
Next steps for the project are creating the reproductions, selecting locations for their display, building frames, and installing the works. While the submission and review processes were electronic and internet-based, remaining steps require hands on work. At the present time, due to public health measures, the Arts & Culture Committee is not able to predict or announce dates for completion of the remaining parts of the 2020 project. Additional announcements and progress will come later, when circumstances permit.

Invest in the Davenport house and save the city some money.
Congratulations to you Ms.Cole! Very well deserved.
Saline City Council railroaded you out while you were doing an excellent job. Saline’s loss thanks to Mayor Marl’s manipulations and his divisive and dysfunctional council.
Glad to see she has landed somewhere. Time shall tell whether this is or is not a positive for Chelsea.
Why is this not up for public vote???
This is undoubtedly the most absurd thing that dysfunctional Marl and Council have ever proposed.
STAND UP SALINE!
Another loss for the citizens if they spend this money
Would love to see the land and structure preserved. That said, Saline has other priorities and it is difficult to support expenditure for both purchase and ongoing maintenance. If the City wants to preserve this landmark, other outside funding sources need to be identified and leveraged.
Everyone loves the beginning.
