The Saline varsity volleyball team, fresh off a huge win at a tournament in Novi Saturday, swept Pioneer in the team’s home opener Tuesday.
Saline dominated from start to finish, winning 25-9, 25-6 and 25-5.
Saline improved to 17-9-1 and 5-2 in the SEC.
Coach Emileen Palka was happy with the team’s effort.
“The last time we played Pioneer, we let them get on a couple runs and score 15-16 points This time, we limited them and didn’t let them get anything started,” Palka said.
It was Saline’s home opener – which was even more special than normal, because the Hornets have a new home. The volleyball team is playing in the auxiliary gym, which is smaller, more intimate and louder.
“It’s definitely different. At first we were questioning it, because it’s smaller. But, honestly, I love it. The atmosphere is so much better. It’s louder and brings more energy and we are able to put more posters up. It’s just ours. It’s our home gym.”
