Saline senior Connor Terech begins his third season on the Saline varsity football squad knowing that the Hornets aren’t getting a lot of love from the so-called experts around Michigan high school football. But he doesn’t care at all.
“It doesn’t matter to us at all. I can remember the same thing last year. We had such a good team two years ago and lost a ton of starters and Division 1 athletes and then we came back last year and had a solid season,” said Terech, who returns as a starting linebacker. “The same thing happened this year. But I’ve been there in the winter and spring, and I’ve seen the guys lifting and getting stronger. I’ve seen them here in practice, getting better every day. So I’m not worried about what people have to say. We just come to practice and worry about ourselves.”
Terech is a leader on the defense. . The 6’2, 205-pound Terech led the Hornets with 40 tackles last year. He also broke up five passes, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.
Coach Joe Palka is counting on Terech to be a rock on defense.
“Connor’s grown with the program and turned into a great linebacker. He has height, range and he runs well. He’s an important leader on our team,” Palka said.
