The Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control are holding an adoption event at Crispin Chevrolet in Saline Saturday.
Pickups for Paws takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7112 E. Michigan Ave., near the corner of State Road and Michigan Avenue.
Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control run the volunteer program at the Detroit Animal Care shelter.
Most of the dogs available for adoption are typically short-coated, blocky-headed, 50-pound pooches. The Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control label them as "pit bulls," even though, the group says, visual identification of breed is difficult. The friends refer to these dogs as "Detroit Specials."
