Saline Township May Consider Special Meeting to Discuss Andelina Farms

The Saline Township Board of Trustees convened their September Board meeting promptly at 7 p.m. Monday night and adjourned the meeting thirty minutes later. The agenda addressed routine township business, including the approval of the township’s operating and road millage rates.

In a motion made by Trustee Robert Prehn, seconded by Township Clerk Kelly Marion, the board approved the L-4029 form which sets the township’s annual operating millage at .9135. Saline Township’s road millage is .9960, which runs through 2020.

Treasurer Renee Luckhardt informed the board that Thursday, September 14, 2017 is the last day to pay taxes. She reported that she would be in the office until 5 p.m. that day, but township residents could drop off payments in her home mailbox until midnight. In the consent agenda, the Board approved accounts payable for September in the amount of $4,966.94, and a payroll of $6,026.13. This was approved unanimously.

Township Supervisor Jim Marion said that the discussion of Andelina Farms, the proposed housing development in Saline Township located adjacent to the city limits of Saline, was being postponed to the October 9, 2017 township meeting. During the limited discussion of the Andelina Farms development proposal, the township board indicated they might consider holding a special meeting with the development project as the only agenda item. The Township Board indicated they would provide township residents with plenty of notice in advance of the meeting to discuss the fate of the Andelina Farms development proposal.

Township Clerk Kelly Marion reported that Saline Township would be working with Washtenaw County on the 2020 census report. Details would be provided as the township finalized their census plans.

Trustee Prehn moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Clerk Kelly Marion. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.
