Joseph Lobins, WW II Veteran, Was a Principal in Lorain, Ohio

Joseph (Joe) Lobins of Saline, Mich, formerly of Avon, Ohio, age 89, died peacefully at his home in Brecon Village following an abrupt decline on July 15, 2016 with family by his side. Joe is one of 12 children of Nicholas and Anna Lobins of Conneaut Lake, Penn.. He is survived by his two children Denise (Matt) Monsman and Donna (Don) Zak as well as his four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dusty (Wilmajean), whom he affectionately referred to as Mrs. America.

A veteran of the Second World War and a grateful recipient of the GI bill, Joe attended Slippery Rock University. He became a longtime educator and principal in the Lorain School System in Lorain, Ohio where he touched the lives of countless numbers of students and families. 

Joe was an avid golfer, gardener and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Canada. He was also an enthusiastic bridge and poker player and enjoyed his weekly games. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his many stories as well as his positive, kind and gentle manner, and his love of life. 

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will occur at a future date.
