Residents in two local subdivisions are holding a huge garage sale to help the ChadTough Foundation fight pediatric brain tumors.
The ChadTough Garage Sale will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, in the Centennial Park and Centennial Farms subdivisions located off Textile Road and Bicentennial Parkway, just north of Saline High School.
The garage sale will included visits from Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh and football players like John O'Korn from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Besides bargains, the event includes activities like bakesales, face painting and autograph signing.
Over 70 homeowners will be participating and donating a percentage of their proceeds to The ChadTough Foundation. ChadTough wrist bands, t-shirts and signs will be on sale while supplies last. Adidas will also be selling youth apparel.
The ChadTough Foundation was started by the Carr Family in honor of their son, Chad, and his loss to DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). DIPG is an inoperable tumor in the brainstem near the top of the spinal cord. Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death from childhood cancer. DIPG is the most common cause of death due to brain tumors in children. There are very few treatment options and an extremely low survival rate. Only a very small percentage of cancer research funding goes to pediatrics. The ChadTough Foundation supports pediatric brain tumor research and studies nationwide.
