Saline swim and dive picked up another win in the SEC Red Thursday. Saline defeated Bedford 130-56.

The Hornets won all but two events.

Jared Ehrman and Matthew Filsinger each won two events for the Hornets, who took two of three relays.

Saline opened the event with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Ehrman, Matt Lau, Cole Nelson and Ethan Saunders won in 1:39.37. The team of Hunter Nelson, Matt Hardt, Filsinger and Josh Willwerth placed second in 1:42.93.

Davis Klein won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.73. Ehrman’s first victory came in the 200-yard medley, which he swam in 2:00.96. Saunders, a freshman, was second in 2:04.99 and Hardt, a sophomore, was third in 2:08.96.

Bedford’s Zak Smith won the 50 freestyle in 22.27 - .06 seconds faster than Lau. Willwerth was third in 22.68.
Freshman Jason Heissler won the diving competition, scoring 171.8. Josh Birch was third with a score of 156.15.

Filsinger’s first win came in the 100 fly. Filsinger’s time was 54.01. Cole Nelson was second in 54.58.

Lau won the 100-yard freestyle in 50.04. Hunter Nelson was third in 51.94.

Ehrman won the 500 freestyle in 4:52.63. Hardt was third in 5:06.63. The Hornets won the 200-yard freestyle. Hunter Nelson, Willwerth, Ehrman and Lau swam the event in 1:31.32.

Filsinger’s second win came in the backstroke, which he swam in 55.90. Davis Klein was second in 57.36 and Cole Nelson was third 58.48.

Saunders won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.17 - earning his state cut. Willwerth was second in 1:06.41 and Jacob Brunty was third in 1:08.01.

Saturday Saline hosted University School, from Ohio, and won 115-68. Again, the Hornets won all but two events.

Ehrman, Lau, Cole Nelson and Willwerth won the 200 medley relay in 1:38.68.

University’s Ethan Banks won the 200-yard freestyle. Filsinger was second in 1:47.62 and Saunders was third in 1:47.68. Klein won the 200-IM in 2:00.49 - besting the state cut time.

In the 50 free, Lau won in 22:15. Willwerth was second in 22.66.

Heissler led a 1-2-3 finish for Saline in the diving event. He won with 1738 points, edging Colin Nouhan, 169.25, and Josh Birch, 156.55.

Cole Nelson won the 100 fly in a state qualifying time of 53.85. Ehrman was the 100-yard free in 48.56. Willwerth was third in 49.43.

Filsinger won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:50.01. Saunders was third in 5:03.49.

Saline won the 200-yard free relay. Lau, Willwerth, Filsinger and Saunders swam the race in 1:31.57.

University’s Owen Hanna won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.98. Ehrman was second in 54.38 and Cole Nelson was third in 57.94.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Lau won in a time of 59.96. Klein was second in 1:00.73.

Saline finished the meet by winning the 400-yard free relay. Saunders, Cole Nelson, Klein and Ehrman swam for the Hornets.
