Help Sew Fidget Mats

Small stitches, big impact. 💜 Help bring calm to Alzheimer’s & dementia residents with handmade fidget mats/

Salt Valley Art's Community Service Group makes fidget mats for the residents of EHM's Memory Center during the month of September.

One of the ways that individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia show anxiety or agitation is in the hands, or rubbing hands together. Fidget mats are one way to help restore calm.

Want to help? Join us at the Salt Valley Arts Center Studio Space at EHM Professional Building, 400 W. Russell, Entrance A.

If you participate in sewing a fidget mat you will select from our supply of donated materials and sew them down securely onto the pre-sewn mat. Some like to plan a mat from the materials we will have at Salt Valley. If you have a theme in mind you may want to bring an inspirational fabric or appliqué.

All sewing on the mats must be with a sewing machine to insure they can not be picked apart. No hand sewing!

Some like to work at the center and others like to plan the mat(s) from materials we have and do the sewing at home and return the mat(s) when finished. We have vintage machines at SVA you may use or bring your own!
