Saline Girls Take 2nd at Portage XC
The Saline girls cross country team finished second at one of the largest cross country meets of the season.
Saline finished with 143 points. Northville was first with 78 points.
Jessi Larson led the Lady Hornet runners, finishing seventh in 18:09. The race was won by Port Huron’s Rachel Bonner (17:16). Saline senior Hannah Cummings ran her fastest time of the year (18:33) to finish 16th. Senior Regan Smith smashed her personal record with a time of 19:15, which was good for 33rd. Gillian Walter was 37th in 19:19. Junior Gillian Hartley competed the scoring by taking 55th in 19:39. Holly Treber and Danielle Fillmore also ran for Saline.
Saline’s sixth grade team won the sixth grade race with 107 points, three better than Shepherd. Claire Endres was third in 9:52. Finishing in the scoring for Saline were Johanna Walder, Melissa Phelps, Amanda Lin and Makenna Lupi.
Saline’s middle school team was second to Grand Ledge in the 2500 meter race. Saline’s fastest runner was Katelyn Szafraanski (9:49, 22nd). Ella Woehlke was right behind her (9:50, 24th).
