Mr. Robert Lloyd Prehn, age 81, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at his home in Saline. Robert was born on May 1, 1937 in Dearborn, the son of Ralph Edward and Frances Ann (Laurich) Prehn. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Prehn (DesJardins) whom he married on September 7th in 1963. They were married for 55 wonderful years.
He served in the United States Navy as a P3-Orion pilot and retired after proudly serving this country for 27 years. After retirement from the Navy, he taught high school Physics for 6 years at Bishop Stang High School in MA. Upon moving to MI, he was an active participant in the Saline community. Serving as the township supervisor for a time. He was an active member of the Saline Rotary for a number of years. He served on the township board as well. His favorite pastime was fishing.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons, Brian Prehn and Brad Prehn and his two daughters and their spouses, Beth and John Murphy and Brenda and Tim Kelly. He is also survived by nine wonderful grandchildren with whom he also took fishing when given the opportunity to share his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline, with Fr. James McDougall as Celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the Washtenaw County Veterans Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow the service and will be held at the church. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2019 between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to American Cancer Society and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
