Carman Dickinson, 96, Played Part in D-Day Invasion at Juneau Beach

Carman Courtney Dickinson, 96, of Saline, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. 

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Margaret (Knack) Dickinson; his two sons, Chris Dickinson and his wife Sharon of Saline; Tim Dickinson and his wife Angela of Rochester, MN; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, the son of William and Beatrice (Cousins) Dickinson, he immigrated to the United States in 1961. In his early years, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and was part of the Allied invasion forces on Juneau Beach (D-Day) in June 1944. 

After the war, he met his wife, Margaret, at the bank where she worked and they were married in September 1949. He spent the majority of his professional career working as a Supervisor in the Division of Logistics for General Motors. Carman Dickinson’s special interests included spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.  He particularly enjoyed watching his grandkids play minor league ice hockey.

A funeral service was held on Monday, December 19, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, with a private burial to follow.  To leave a memory or for more information please visit www.rbfhsaline.com.
