Saline XC Runs Fast to 2nd Place Finish

Six Hornets set personal records and four Hornets set season best times as Saline placed second in the Jackson Invite at Ella Sharp Park Saturday.

Saline finished with 105 points, edging Northville (107 points) and finishing behind Northville (88 points).

Senior Aidan Carichner was the fastest Hornet, placing 14th in 16:19.4, a personal best. He was a few seconds faster than junior Anthon DeKraker, who was 16th in 16:22.1. Senior Evan Koerschner ran his best of the season, taking 18th in 16:31.2. Fellow senior Connor Meehan also ran a personal best 16:37.4, which was good for 25th.  Joshua Cook completed the Hornet scoring, running in 16:47.9.

Sophomore Jevin Nishioka was 34th in 16:50.4.  Aidan Delfuoco (16:51), Derek Liemohn (16:53), Neil Garg (16:57), Simon Pfeiffer (17:09) and Toby Mepham (17:55) set personal marks. Aaron Milley (17:39) and Grant Peters (17:53) also set personal records.

On Friday, the Saline junior varsity team won their event with 31 points – 30 better than second place Bedford.

Jacob Dykman was Saline’s fastest runner, placing third in 17:57. Trevor Bishop (4th, 18:05), Samuel Chen (8th, 18:23), Jacob Brunty (9th, 18:23) and Brock Boze (10th, 18:25) completed the scoring for Saline.

2) Anthony DeKraker -- Showing that form that made him Saline's most formidable runner late last year.

3) Even Koerschner -- The senior ran his best race of the season.
